簡介
本劇背景設置在現今的華盛頓哥倫比亞特區，講述了眾議院南卡羅來納州第五國會選區民主黨籍議員、多數黨黨鞭弗蘭克・安德伍德在晉升為國務卿的希望破滅後，在妻子克萊爾的幫助下，開始運用複雜的權術獲得最高權力的故事。劇集主要涉及的主題是無情的實用主義，操縱和權力。
