簡介
該劇故事描述前任女參議員Selina Meyer（Julia Louis-Dreyfus）當上副總統後 發現這個職位與她想象中的情況完全不一樣－－她幾乎沒有任何真正的權力。參議院、眾議員和總統都不把她當回事，可一旦遇到誰也解決不了的麻煩事就扔給她去處理。
剛剛上任的副總統Selina Meyer帶著她的班子成員－－辦公室主任Amy、發言人Mike、政治參謀Gary和執行助理Sue－－來到華盛頓。雖然他們還沒有站穩腳跟，但Selina急於表現自己的能力。結果，一系列的失誤導致她的手下人不得不放棄當初的設想，轉頭去做「損害控制」工作。該劇其實和Showtime的《謊言堂》有點像，也是一個主人公身邊圍繞一群「各司其責」、「性格各異」的手下，只不過該劇的主人公貴為副總統，而且是個女性。
